
The Linux Operator is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting Linux-based systems and servers to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. This role involves executing daily operations tasks, troubleshooting system issues, and providing technical support to ensure IT infrastructure stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor Linux servers, processes, and applications to ensure system health and availability.
Perform routine system administration tasks such as user management, permissions, backups, and log monitoring.
Execute scheduled jobs, batch processes, and system scripts.
Respond to system alerts, incidents, and user-reported issues in a timely manner.
Support patch management, system upgrades, and configuration changes.
Maintain and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system operations.
Assist in server builds, deployments, and environment setup as required.
Monitor system security and apply security updates in coordination with system administrators.
Generate and review performance and utilization reports.
Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and support teams to resolve complex issues.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar).
Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) for automation.
Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH).
Basic knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms (VMware, AWS, Azure, OpenStack) is an advantage.
Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in 24/7 shifts or on-call support rotation.
